Mid-Norfolk Railway, Wymondham and Norwich

Posted in England, Norwich, Wymondham by folkestonejack on May 14, 2011

I was determined to get out to get my quota of fresh air after a week staring at a computer screen and it did me the world of good… even if it did mean an early start to catch the 7.30am train from London Liverpool Street to Norwich!

I’ve only been to Norfolk once but have long wondered about visiting the preserved railway lines in the area and I decided to start today with the Mid-Norfolk Railway at Wymondham on a gala weekend. I’m not one for riding up and down a line so I headed to Thuxton and took a circular walk criss-crossing the line. It was a pleasant enough walk though the weather was somewhat unpredictable – changing from blue skies and sun to howling winds, black clouds and heavy rain. Once that had passed it was back to blue skies again… I’ve never seen quite such a dramatic shift!
